Hello Everyone, <\/span><\/p>\n

We are back from our fast trip to Belize.\u00a0 Our new friends, Jim and Debie Tucker were gracious hosts and it was interesting learning about their mission work there. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Our purpose for going was two fold.\u00a0 Every 180 days here in Guatemala we need to leave the country to renew our visas.\u00a0 Normally we drive to Mexico but this time we decided to go to Belize and visit the Cayo Deaf Institute.\u00a0 The couple to the right are Charlie and Lorna Plett who are Mennonites and work with the Institute.\u00a0 They showed us the ministry and then took us out to lunch.\u00a0 The ministry has 50 acres of rich farmland.\u00a0 They teach the deaf students academics as well as how to work a farm.\u00a0 Charlie employs a former student at his business in town.<\/span>[\/one_half]<\/p>\n

[one_half_last]The couple here is Kenton and Norma Reimer.\u00a0 They also work with the Institute and Kenton preaches every Sunday in ASL to their deaf congregation in town.\u00a0 We met these people at a Deaf Family Conference that Roy Price, Carlos Donate and ourselves put on two years ago in Antigua.\u00a0 We had a great time visiting and talking about curriculum.<\/p>\n

On our way back home the transmission in the van stopped functioning properly but praise the Lord we made it home safely.\u00a0 Please pray that we can get it repaired.[\/one_half_last]<\/p>\n

\n

We want to say thank you to all of you who fasted and\/or prayed with us three weeks ago.\u00a0 In the newsletter announcing the fast we mentioned that we were shown a couple of pieces of property, one being a 16 acre campamento which has a selling price of $1,100,000 but includes complete facilities.\u00a0 This is just too pricey for us and we believe we can build for much less.\u00a0 The other property is a 13 acre parcel that is beautiful but just land.\u00a0 The price for this piece is $36,000.\u00a0 There are three individual one acre parcels that connect the 13 acres with the main road that goes through Las Tunas.\u00a0 An inquiry has not been made yet regarding the price of these single lots.\u00a0 The current idea is to purchase at least one of the single acre parcels along with the 13 acres.\u00a0 This would give us two entrances, one from the main road going into Jutiapa and the other from the main road in Las Tunas.\u00a0 At present, we feel this would be the best place to build the school and ministry.\u00a0 Hopefully, we can get some pictures posted in the next few weeks.\u00a0 Your prayers for this undertaking are greatly appreciated.<\/p>\n
