Hello Everyone,

We are in the final week of our USA tour.  God has been so good to us with favorable weather, a well running car and even good gas mileage.  Last week we met with three different deaf ministries.  We were encouraged and challenged.  We’re even learning a little ASL.  The picture below is of a home schooling deaf family that we stayed with in Minnesota.

This final week is very busy for us as we will be sharing tonight, Wednesday and Thursday nights.  On Sunday, Greg will be teaching in the Sunday School and church service for First Deaf Baptist Church in Phoenix.  Not to mention that we have about 36 hours of driving this week.  Your prayers for a good week would be appreciated.

Here is a bit of our itinerary for the next few weeks.  We will arrive back in Alpine, California on Monday the 19th or Tuesday the 20th.  On Sunday, the 25th of November, Greg will be teaching and sharing at New Song Christian Community church in Lake Elsinore, California.  The following Sunday, December 2nd, Greg will be teaching and sharing at Twin Peaks Community Church.  We would love to see as many of you as we can before we head back to Guatemala on or around January 9th.  If you can’t make it out to one of these churches, let’s get together some other way.

As always, thank you so much for your prayers and financial support.  We feel very honored and blessed to be a part of what God is doing for the Deaf of Guatemala.

May God bless you all richly,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

We are off and running (driving) to the East Coast.  If you know of someone who would like us to share with them what God is doing for the Deaf of Guatemala, please let us know.  Our cell phone number is 909-835-3135.

Some good news, starting January, Elvis and Yulissa will be joining us in the ministry in Jutiapa.  We are excited about them coming on board.  To learn more, you’ll have to watch our new promotional video.  We hope to get it up on Youtube soon.  These are exciting times for Guatemala Deaf Ministries, Inc.  God is good.

We’ll be back in Southern California by Thanksgiving and will be sharing in churches here as well.  An itinerary will be coming.

Please be praying for a safe and successful trip.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Elvis & Yulissa

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for praying.  Family things are better, God is still on the throne and prayer works.  The promotional video is done with just a couple of typos to fix and one edit.  Praise the Lord!  It has already been shown once and was well received.

We will be driving back to Atlanta, Georgia and then starting our support raising trip from there, working our way back to Southern California by Thanksgiving.  Here is a tentative schedule for the trip.

Leaving California on Friday, Oct. 12 and driving to Atlanta
Attending a Bible conference from Oct. 21 to Oct. 25
Oct. 26 through Nov. 21 for speaking, visiting and sharing what God is doing in Guatemala

Currently, we will be working our way through, Tennessee, Missouri, Colorado and Arizona.  We would like to visit as many of you as we can, as time allows.    We are trusting God to work out the schedule.  We believe God has some great things in store for 2013.  For those of you in California, we would love to visit you as well and are available until Oct. 12th and after Thanksgiving until January 8th.

This current year has shown us that we need the prayer support more than ever.  It has been said that the Deaf of the world are the largest unreached people group, which would mean they need the greatest amount of prayer.  Our goal for 2013 is to build a training center, but prayer is what is going to make it possible.  Please spread the word.  We would love to share about the Deaf in Guatemala and the work that God is doing there.  We can best be reached by email or by phone at 909-835-3135.

Thanks for standing with us in prayer on so many fronts.  May God richly bless you for your sacrifices.  We hope to see you soon.

With much love and appreciation,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

We are back in the USA dealing with a family crisis.  Please pray for healing, restoration and renewed strength.  God is still on the throne and He still answers the prayers of His saints.

We are still missionaries to the Deaf of Guatemala.  The vision that God has given, continues motivating us to press on.  2 Corinthians 4:8 and 9 says, “We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.”

Our desire is to continue with our plans for a support raising trip around the country, but we may have to push it back a little.  Please continue to pray for us and the Deaf of Guatemala.

Your servants,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

Jonathan’s mother, Ana Velia, was hit by a car in front of their house and broke her leg below the knee.  She is in the hospital in Guatemala City and needs a second operation.  Please pray for the whole family during this time of need.  Jonathan is the deaf pastor that we work with in Jutiapa and his mother is a great encouragement to us.

We are thinking and praying about a support raising trip some time in October/November.  We would like to work our way across the country, visiting with people and ministries along the way.  Our goal is to let people know about the Deaf in Guatemala and to solicit the prayers and financial support of the saints across the country.  Over the past couple of months, we have met many people who are interested in what we are doing for the Deaf in Guatemala.  This would be an opportunity to visit with some of those people and share further with them the vision we have for Guatemala Deaf Ministries.  We believe the next step is to establish a training center and Bible College.  Please be praying with us for these needs as well.

We have been working on a new promotional video for GDM.  Please pray for this too, because this is out of our field of expertise.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

Please pray for Jeanette and Joshua.  They seem to have caught some virus.  Jeanette has been down for a few days now but Josh seems to be doing better.  James 5:15 "And the prayer of faith shall save the sick and the Lord shall raise him (her) up…"

Please pray, our adversary does not like what we're doing here.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

It's been three weeks since we wrote our last report.  Those three weeks have been the busiest ever.  Nineteen people have stayed at our house in the month of July, some for just a night and others for several days.  It's been exciting to meet new friends and tell them about what God is doing in the lives of the Deaf in Jutiapa.  The pictures below are of some of our visitors.  It was a delight to meet Pastor Mauricio and his wife Carmen from the Dominican Republic.  You can check out more details and pictures in our updated website at www.guatemaladeafministries.com

Praise God the funds have been coming in abundantly this summer.  Thank you for your faithful giving.  Please continue to pray for the purchase of property so we can build a training center.  The goal is still to train the Deaf to reach the Deaf.  We found a beautiful 15.5 acre piece of land for sale for $120,000.  It has electricity, water and sewer and is close to the city of Jutiapa.  In the attached picture the property is to the right of the power poles.

Our Mexico trip to renew our visas was a success in spite of our bank cards not working and a flat tire.  But God, Vern and Gilberto took care of us and we made it home in time to get a good nights rest.

Please keep praying for the Deaf of Guatemala.  God is doing a mighty work here and we are so blessed to be a part of that.  Don't forget that you can call and talk to us on our USA Lingo phone 909-498-4437.

Dios les bendiga,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

There are lots of fantastic things happening here in Guatemala.  Praise the Lord!  Check out the pictures below.  Last Sunday afternoon was our baptism service in Monjas.  Seven of our deaf students were baptized along with two of our children, Luke and Julia.  Afterwards, we all gathered at our house for dinner.  There were 60 people and all but about 10 were seated.  It was a very happy, festive time as we celebrated after the baptism service.

On Wednesday, Roy and Myra Price (the other missionaries to the Deaf in the city) brought a group from the USA to visit the ministry here in Jutiapa.  On Thursday morning, Josh and Luke learned how to test the students for hearing loss with the help of David and Cheryl McCutheon and their equipment.  In the afternoon, Pastor Bob (who is deaf) with Jonathan translating, gave a gospel message to our class in Asuncion Mita and 5 of our students gave their hearts to Jesus.  During the break, several came to me and asked "when can we be baptized?"  Thank you all for your prayers.

We have met and are establishing good relationships with some deaf Christians in Catocha (Santa Catarina Mita).  This is exciting because it opens up another area where the Deaf need to hear the gospel.  We talked with Abner and Osman's mother last week and she cried as she told us that she has been praying for years for God to send someone to teach and minister to her two deaf sons.

Tomorrow morning we leave for Mexico to renew our visas.  We need to stay for a couple of days and we will return on Wednesday.  Please pray for safe travels, easy border crossing and hassle free visa renewals.

Thank you all for your support and prayers.  They are making a difference in the lives of the Deaf here in Guatemala.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

Jeanette and Julia are back safe and sound in Guatemala, and us three guys are very happy and tired.  The kitchen is not quite done but looking very nice.  Jonathan and I have enjoyed working together on the project.  Uncle Vern came along with the girls for a two week visit.  His job is to get us up to speed in the technology department.  He will also be helping us with a promotional video that we are starting.

There are lots of things to report but the most important for this news update is that tomorrow we are having a baptismal service and about 9 deaf people will be baptized in a beautiful location in Monjas.  Afterwards, we will all gather at our house to celebrate and eat dinner together.  We are expecting about 50 to 60 people.  Everyone is excited.  Please pray for a good, weather perfect day and for safety in traveling between Mita, Jutiapa and Monjas.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

Jeanette and I are proud grandparents again.  Esther and Jim just had their little boy, Robert Walter Ramsey.  Mommy and baby are doing fine.  Robbie weighs 7 lb. 11 oz.  Praise the Lord.  Thanks for praying.

Today, at the courthouse, I was not called upon to interpret.  Alberto was released this afternoon.  We counseled with him a little and will try to play a more active role in his life.  Please pray for him, as he is very lost.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

Us guys are doing fine here in Guatemala but missing Jeanette and Julia very much.  They have been busy visiting family and friends in the states.  At any given moment we can give you the exact time remaining until we see them again on June 28th.

This past week has been busy with classes in Asuncion Mita, Jalapa and here in Jutiapa.  My regard for teachers has increased ten fold.  Last Friday, I gave a simple Spanish test to my highest grade level class and no one was able to answer any questions except a 14 years old boy.  We had thought he had some learning disabilities other than the fact that he is deaf.  We were wrong.  He read the test and answered the 5 questions in under 4 minutes.  Go figure.  Apparently he attends a hearing school but comes to our school because he does not know sign language and cannot communicate well.

I am now on a schedule of preaching every other Sunday here in Jutiapa and the other Sundays in Mita.  Please pray that God would continue to show me ways to reach and teach the Deaf.  It is a sad thing to look into your students eyes and know that they just don't understand.  But, it is a wonderful sight to see God open their eyes of understanding as He sheds His light upon them.

Jonathan, his wife Aura and their baby girl Eunice are doing quite well.  They are a happy family.

Tomorrow morning, Monday, Jonathan and I are going to the local jail to visit a deaf young man (one of our students) who got drunk and assaulted his mother.  We might have to talk with the attorney and the judge and in either case I will have to interpret.  This is new territory for me and I would appreciate your prayers.

Esther will be having her baby tomorrow afternoon.  Please pray for a safe delivery for both mom and baby.

Thank you for all your prayers and financial support.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

The rainy season is upon us (see picture below).  It has rained in the afternoon every day now for almost a week.  So far the house has no leaks.  Praise the Lord.

Jeanette and Julia are returning to the states tomorrow morning to be with Esther for the birth of our third grandchild.  Please pray that everything goes well and that the baby and Esther stay healthy.

Next week, I (Greg) will be teaching on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  In July we would like to start a Bible study on Tuesday morning and a youth group on Friday or Saturday night.  The Deaf here are very eager and hungry to learn.  On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I am teaching Jonathan how to make kitchen cabinets.  It's a full schedule.  Please pray for energy and also for us guys (Josh, Luke and myself) who will be bachelors for the next few weeks.

The other picture is of our Jalapa class last Saturday.  We had 10 students.

As always, thanks for your prayers and support.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

The "Deaf Family Conference" in Antigua a week ago last Tuesday was a complete success.  A young deaf woman (21) confessed Jesus Christ as her Savior.  Praise the Lord!  It was a wonderful time with about 44 deaf young people and adults in attendance.  We are already trying to plan the next one.  Two Mennonite couples from Belize came and visited the conference.  They have a deaf ministry called "Cayo Deaf Institute" near Spanish Lookout in Belize.  It was exciting to create friendships between us in our mutual work for the Deaf of Latin America.  Please pray for them and their work in teaching the Deaf.

Moving is such a chore, but we are officially in our new Jutiapa home.  There are boxes everywhere, no closets to put things away and it's 15 degrees warmer than it is in Guatemala City.  Little by little we'll get it all organized.  The devil is trying real hard to discourage and defeat us.  For several days now we have been fighting stomach problems, infections, the new refrigerator broke and the washer machine decided to leak.  But Praise God, we are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us (Romans 8:37).  Please pray for health, safety and victory.

Tomorrow, we begin our class in Jalapa.  Pray for a good day with lots of eager deaf students in attendance.

Please know that we appreciate your prayers and financial support.  This is an exciting time for us and the ministry here in Guatemala.  Praise God that the challenges are never too difficult for Him to overcome.  The future for these deaf young people and adults grows a little brighter every day.

Attached are some pictures we thought you would enjoy.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

The last few weeks have been filled with some difficult challenges but Praise God we are pretty much on the other side of them.  Now we get to face the current challenges.  We started moving to Jutiapa today and while there, we picked up 14 deaf young adults and brought them to our house here in San Cristobal.  They will be spending the night tonight and tomorrow.  The "Conferencia de la Familia Sorda" is tomorrow in Antigua.  Jeanette and I will be teaching and sharing.  Please pray for Jeanette as she will be presenting some material to the single deaf ladies and also answering questions.  She was supposed to have some help but it does not look like that will happen.

Elvis and Yulissa have been dealing with their own set of challenges involving the church and they need your prayers as well.  Please pray for the church leadership as they have been making some bad decisions lately.

Please continue to pray for the work in Jutiapa.  We talked with Sonia today, one of the helpers in Mita and she said they are up to 30 in their class.  When we were there 5 weeks ago, we had 23 in the class.  Jonathan's Friday class is growing too.  The church in Jalapa called to see when we were going to start out there.  Things are exploding and we are not even there yet.

Don't forget to pray for the conference tomorrow (Tuesday) that God would show himself real and powerful in the lives of the Deaf here in Guatemala.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

After spending 3 days teaching in 3 different areas and seeing the tremendous need, the Summervilles have decided to answer the call and move to Jutiapa.  The current plan is to move at the end of April or beginning of May to the house where the school meets.  By Jutiapa standards it is a nice house with 8 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.  The living room, dining room and one of the bedrooms downstairs is used by the school.  This will give us ample room to teach computer and sewing classes with some extra rooms for visitors (hint, hint).  The garage area will be the wood shop.  The rent is $100 cheaper than what we are paying now.

We had the opportunity to teach 5 classes with a total of 57 students ranging in ages from 5 to 65.  The subjects taught were math, Spanish and a fun science class on the 6 simple machines.  In Jalapa, the pastor's wife wants us to come on Sundays also, to teach a service for the Deaf.  Her 21 year old daughter was learning right along side all of the deaf students and wants to be an interpreter.

On Friday afternoon, we looked at some property for sale just a few minutes walk from Jonathan's house.  A man approached us carrying a machete and was wondering what we were doing.  Jonathan's dad Mario was quick to diffuse the situation and they talked for quite some time.  During the conversation a young girl came and stood at a distance and just watched.  The machete wielding man said that she was his daughter and that she could not listen which means she is deaf.  Mario motioned for her to come closer and then Jonathan explained that he too was deaf and she seemed to understand.  Of course we promoted the school which is only a 7 minute walk from her house.  See the attached picture of her and her father with Jeanette, Mario and Jonathan.

God is answering prayers.  Thank you for your faithfulness.  We are still in the legal process with the government to help Eulalia.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

Tomorrow we will be driving to Jutiapa for three days of teaching and meetings with parents, pastors and deaf students.  The schedule includes teaching the primaria class tomorrow morning and then possibly teaching in the afternoon in Mita.  On Friday, we will be teaching the adult class (15 through 65) in the morning and then a small class in the evening.  On Saturday morning, we have a meeting and/or class in Jalapa, which is about an hour north of Jutiapa.  During these next three days, the plan is to ask as many questions as we possibly can, look for a place to live and investigate the area for a possible move there.  We will drive back on Saturday night and then I (Greg) will be preaching on Sunday morning.  Please be praying for our safety and the Lord's leading and anointing.  We will more than likely make a decision this weekend about moving.

News finally came in on Monday afternoon regarding Eulalia, the 27 year old deaf pregnant orphan woman in the care of Pastor Jorge and his wife.  She is doing well but apparently we need to be authorized by the government in order to receive her into our care.  Pastor Jorge is working on that now.  So, we are waiting on the Lord and will trust in His will for us and for Eulalia.  Please continue to pray for her and the birth of her baby.

Your prayers and financial support are greatly appreciated.  We'll send some pictures sometime next week.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

The missions conference a week ago was a great encouragement to us.  We connected with many different missionaries from around the country.  The food was great, the worship was powerful and the messages were blessed.  We definitely want to go again next year.

Our ministry here over the past few weeks has reached a turning point.  There seems to be two opportunities that God is laying before us.  Permit us to share our hearts with you.  First off, as you all know we have been praying about a ministry in Jutiapa or Jalapa.  We have been asked by Jonathan and his dad Mario to join them in the ministry to the Deaf there.  Mario is the pastor of a large church in Jutiapa and is supporting his son in his ministry to the Deaf.  But Jonathan is spread thin ministering in the surrounding areas of Jalapa, Monjas and Asuncion Mita.  The desire and need for a training center is even stronger.  We have been talking with people about the various legal options that we have here in Guatemala for a school and or training center.  The decision to move our family away from the city is a difficult one.  We would no longer have the support from the other missionaries here in the city and could no longer be a part of the home-school co-op in Antigua.

The other opportunity that God is giving us came through another missionary that we met here in Guatemala.  There is a young woman named Eulalia that is 27years old, deaf and pregnant.  Her parents were killed when she was 11 years old.  She does not communicate at all.  She knows no Spanish or sign language but they say she is a good cook.  The government dropped her off at the home of a pastor in Villa Nueva.  We have met with him and we both agree that she needs to be in an environment where she can learn to communicate using sign language.  Is God calling us to take this girl in, teach her and help her with her baby?  God has given us a little experience in that area :).  She was taken to the doctor and was shown an ultrasound of her baby.  We think she understands that there is a baby inside of her.  In moving to Jutiapa/Jalapa she would be surrounded by many deaf people who could help her too.

Please be praying with us for the ministry here.  These are wonderful opportunities but are they God's will for the Summerville family?  Our first thought is "When can we start?".  But there are still a lot of details that need to be worked out.  Please pray that God's will would be clear to us and that He would provide for all the details.

Thank you for standing with us.  We need your prayers so much.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

During the last two weeks I have been busy repairing the house that the church is going to use for a training center.  Pastor Elvis and Yulissa are moving into it on Monday the 27th.  It took three days just to get the electrical repaired and it is still not quite finished.  The kitchen is just bare walls and so this past week Elvis and I built cabinets for a sink.  The water cistern needs repairs and the water pump will be installed this week.  To start off, Elvis wants to teach reading and writing Spanish.

Yesterday was the first meeting of the year for the campamento in November.  There were 20 people including our family for dinner and 7 people spent the night.  Jeanette and the ladies got up early to do some cooking for a bake sale to raise money for the Congreso in July.  They sold almost everything and earned about $50.

This coming weekend is a missions conference for missionaries in Guatemala.  Myself, Jeanette and Julia will attend leaving Joshua and Luke at home.  We are looking forward to connecting with other missionaries and letting people know about GDM.

The first photo is of Julia and some of her friends at a park celebrating her birthday.  The other photo is from the campamento meeting yesterday.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

Greg's step-dad David Daly was driving down the hill going to work last night at 11:20 and was hit by a drunk driver coming up the hill.  He rolled and totaled the car.  He was released this morning from the hospital and is home resting.  He is sore all over with cuts and bruises.  The Highway Patrol and hospital staff say it was a miracle that he was not killed or injured more seriously.

Please pray for a quick recovery.  Pray also for quick resolution of all the legal hassle now of dealing with insurance companies and the loss of their car.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

We are back from Jutiapa and our visit with Jonathan and Aura Pappa.  Last Wednesday was the orientation day of their new school which doesn't even have a name yet.  For now, they will be teaching the children 5 years old to 15 years old on Thursday and on Friday the young adults.  They are waiting for approval from the government to have school all week long.  There were 20 to 25 kids that came on Thursday and on Friday we had around 30 students, mostly young adults, with several absent.  The school right now is in a house that Jonathan's dad Mario owns.  He is the pastor of Principe de Paz church in Jutiapa and is helping out by providing a home for the school.  There are still a lot of unknowns.  They have Luis who is a retired school teacher willing to help.  But that's a lot of kids for three people to teach and Aura is having her baby in about two months.  They have no chairs, no tables, no books, no supplies and they are borrowing the white board from the church.  The chairs that they sat on were rented.  We are praying and seeking God for ways to meet their needs.

We had a great time and I (Greg) taught the class on Friday morning.  Julia did some interpreting (see picture) and also interpreted at church this morning. She did a wonderful job.  One of the hearing ladies of the church, Mirna, stood up to give a testimony (in Spanish) and Julia interpreted.  Well, she tried to interpret but it was difficult because Mirna talks faster than even the best interpreters can translate.  Julia signed to the Deaf that it was just too fast for her and everyone started laughing because they all know that Mirna talks very fast.

On Friday night we were able to see a good friend of ours, Roberto, who is deaf.  He told us that he has a new job and we were excited for him.  Well, we were excited until he told us about his job.  He works 12 hours a day, seven days a week, starting at 3:00 a.m. milking cows and then makes crema and cheese for the rest of the day and finishes by milking the cows again.  He makes a whopping 32 cents per hour.  The exploitation of the Deaf is sometimes hard to believe.  He is one of the hardest workers I know in Guatemala.

Please continue to pray for us as we listen to the voice of God in helping the Deaf of this country.  God has a marvelous plan and we are grateful to be a part of His work here in Guatemala.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

La Familia Conferencia de Sordos was a great success.  There were about 40 deaf adults who attended.  The food was delicious.  The teaching was powerful.  For the last session we divided the men and the women.  Jeanette, Myra Price and Jaimie Donate taught the women.  Myself, Roy Price and Carlos Donate taught the men.  There was lots of time for questions and answers which meant lots of "Ok Lord, how do I answer this one?"  But God was good and everyone was encouraged.  Thank you for your prayers.

It has been particularly difficult for us this past week as we have learned about some of the bad things that are going on among the deaf here in Guatemala.  Your prayers and the conference have encouraged us and again, we thank you.  Good sound Bible teaching and counseling are needed here more than we can imagine and we have just barely scratched the surface.  We would covet your prayers for the following:

  1. Gustavo's new life with his wife is off to a difficult start.  His mother-in-law is very sick which requires him and Ingrid to have to travel to Santa Rosa quite a lot.  This and some other personal issues are putting a strain on their marriage.
  2. Please pray for the Deaf as a whole here in Guatemala and for us as we try to minister to a culture within a culture.  It appears at times that basic "right and wrong" is something that they have just not learned.  Our prayer every day is "Lord, how do we teach them what You want them to learn?"
  3. More and more every day we see the need for a larger home or a training center so we can start teaching on a regular basis.  Please pray for wisdom and discernment and for finances.  We need a huge miracle, but Hallelujah, we serve a miracle working God.
  4. Friday, we are driving to Jutiapa to visit Jonathan and Aura.  They have several things that they want to talk to us about and one of them is a school for the Deaf in Jutiapa.  Jonathan's aunt works for the Department of Education and it sounds like they may have a plan.

You don't know how encouraging it is to be able to share with you these prayer requests knowing that you will indeed pray.  Being here sometimes is very difficult and sometimes it is pure pleasure but all the time we know that it is where God wants us.  Thank you again for standing with us in prayer.

The picture is from yesterday's conference.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

Just a short note to say that tomorrow in the afternoon both Jeanette and I will be teaching at a Deaf Family Conference.  This is a great opportunity to teach the Deaf in another part of the city.  Please pray for a good attendance and for changed hearts and that the messages will not be hampered or hindered in any way.  The devil has been working overtime lately to destroy families and marriages among the Deaf here in Guatemala.  Please stand with us in prayer for the Deaf of this country.  Romans 8:37 says we are more than conquerors through Jesus.  Thanks for standing with us.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

As we said in an earlier email, God is good, and we had a wonderful and productive time in the states.  Guatemala Deaf Ministries Inc. is official, legal and up-n-running.  As a reminder, all donations and support should now be sent to GDM at P.O. Box 809, Twin Peaks, CA  92391.  Greg's sister Julie is keeping track of all incoming funds and Greg's mom is the bank runner.  Thank you Julie and Mom.  We have a wonderful and supportive Board of Directors.  And of course we could not do anything without you, our prayer and support team members.

In the beginning of December we sent out a Christmas letter, photo prayer card and a vision letter (see attachments).  The vision letter explains the long term goals, short term goals, accomplishments in 2011 and prayer needs.  The needs list included things from a refrigerator to a cordless drill.  Praise the Lord enough funds came in over and above the regular monthly contributions to cover nearly everything.  There is still the need for a video camera but we don't have the expertise to know what to even ask for.  The car that we wanted to buy was donated and we sold our '99 Expedition.  We are still in the process of looking for a larger home to rent or a large ministry center to open up for our use.

There is much to do and already our schedule is filling up with speaking and preaching.  In our next email update we will list some specific prayer needs.  As always, thank you for your prayers and financial support.

Looking forward to a great 2012.

Greg and Jeanette

Hello Everyone,

We are back safe and sound in Guatemala.  The trip went well and we sailed through all the check points.  The hard part was the nearly 600 pounds that we were carrying, rolling, pushing and dragging.  In Mexico, we had to get all our bags, go through customs and then recheck everything.  In Guatemala, they had the suitcase x-ray machine at the exit to check all the bags.  We never had to open our suitcases or do any explaining as to why we had all this stuff.  Isn't God good?  Praise the Lord, thank you all for praying.

Tomorrow we are going to rest, unpack and then go to the grocery store.  Good night, sweet dreams and we'll say more later.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette
