We hope you are doing well and Twin Peaks Community Church is staying strong during this global pandemic. We are encouraged that His Word is still being preached and this time we are enduring is turning people to towards Him!
MAF has recently released some new videos and Ryan and I wanted to share them with you for use in a service or on Twin Peak Community Church’s social media page.
Is there anything we can be praying about for you and the church at this time?
Blessings,
The Koher Family

Hello Friends!
We’re approaching the end of our first semester of language school and are busy studying for our final tests. We completed our first test (and passed. WOOHOO!) yesterday and have 4 more to go in the next two weeks. Since the lock down was lifted at the beginning of May, we were able to have our babysitter come back and it has been such a blessing! I (Annabel) have been able to catch up on the little things that I didn’t fully grasp while juggling Elias and classes so I am feeling better prepared for the tests and putting what we are learning into practice.
On Mother’s Day, we were able to venture out and explore a little bit. We took a nice walk along the Rio Mondego and afterwards drove around in the country-side. Masks are required in stores, but not in open spaces so it was nice to get out, breathe some fresh air, and enjoy some nature! We’ve been good about keeping up with walks around our neighborhood, but there isn’t much greenery in the city.

Yesterday, we celebrated our little Elias’ FIRST BIRTHDAY! He has been loving the Wiggles recently so we made a few decorations to that theme. It’s crazy to think about all that he has done and experienced in his one year of life! He’s traveled to 9 states (plus a New Jersey airport) taking his first airplane ride at 3 weeks old and has lived in two countries. He has been starting to walk in the past couple of weeks and is so proud of his accomplishments which he demonstrates with squeals of joy and clapping!

Oh, and Elias wanted to make an announcement for those of you who haven’t heard yet…..

We’re so thrilled to be welcoming our second baby during our stay here in Portugal. As most of you know, we had quite a time trying to get pregnant with Elias and experienced four early losses. We weren’t sure what to expect as we desired to have another child and we have been blessed with no difficulties or concerns during this pregnancy so far. It has been such an experience for us to navigate the health care system with our limited Portuguese. Although, at my last doctor’s appointment, when we had a nurse who spoke no English, we realized just how much Portuguese we can understand now.
For those of you who are currently supporting us financially (or are interested in beginning to support us), you may want to take a look at the following link. Some companies will do a match to your gift (ex. you’re giving $50/month so your work will also give $50/month) so your gift will double! You can use the tools given on the link or contact MAF to find out if your company participates in this.

While we have been experiencing many joys here, we have also been saddened by the news of the loss of a fellow MAF pilot. Joyce Lin was a pilot in Papua, Indonesia who, shortly after take off, died when her plane crashed into Lake Sentani. You can read more about the wonderful person who she was and the heart that she had for the Lord and mission aviation https://hub.maf.org/memorial/joyce-lin-memorial
Please keep her family and her team in Indonesia in your prayers as well as MAF as a whole.
Praise:
- Finishing up our first semester of language school
- Healthy pregnancy so far and a doctor who speaks some English
- We can start exploring the country
Prayer:
- Baby to continue to grow and be healthy
- As we prepare for these tests, that we would soak up the knowledge we’ve gained this semester and remember it well
- MAF as many are affected by the loss of Joyce Lin.
We would love to hear from you! Feel free to contact us through email, facebook or Whats App.
With Love,
The Koher Family

Hello Friends!
We just wanted to send an email to you all to thank you for your dedicated financial and prayer support. It is an encouragement to us especially in this unique time we are all experiencing. Many of you have already or will be receiving our Spring Prayer Letter soon, but we wanted to send an additional email to you all.
Firstly, how can we be praying for all of you in this time? We are in our Easter (Páscoa) break from language classes this week and we would love to spend some extra time in prayer for your needs or praising God for the wonderful things He has done in your lives.

We recently posted a video from the CEO of Mission Aviation Fellowship on our The Koher Family Facebook page, but for those of you who didn’t see it or aren’t on Facebook, we wanted to include that here as well.

MAF is still busy in their work around the world serving those in need. We are excited to join in the work in Mozambique soon and are pleased that we can continue our language studies online even through this lock down we are experiencing. Elias has even joined in on the classes.

Lastly, we are taking this break to update our mailing list for prayer letters. If you are receiving a hardcopy prayer letter, but would be interested in receiving only an email copy, please email me so I can get that adjusted for you.
In Our Prayers,
The Koher Family
Ryan, Annabel, & Elias

Olá from Coimbra, Portugal! We’ve been in country for just over a week now and are looking forward to starting language courses soon. Upon arrival, we met an MAF family on our team who came 6 months ahead of us to begin their language school. This family has been such a great help to us in getting settled here and finding our way around the city. We have bus passes now which will be our primary form of transportation (along with walking) during language school. We have a few more logistical items to cross off our to-do list this week so that we can begin our courses the following week! We continue to study our Portuguese in the meantime using Duolingo and Portuguese-English dictionaries/post-it notes. We appreciate all that you have done to get us to this point. The financial and prayer support we have received from our support team has been an immense blessing to our family as we follow God’s leading for our lives. We pray that this next year in language school will be an enriching time for us and we will be readily prepared to minister in Mozambique in 2021. As this is a partnership, how can we be praying for you during this time? |

We can receive letters here in Portugal, but we are asking for packages to be mailed to MAF in the US. This is due to the customs fees that we will obtain here in Portugal if we were to receive a package. Someone from MAF can accompany the packages to Mozambique when they have an individual heading out there and we can receive them when we enter the country.
We will also be having various friends and families visiting us during our time in Portugal so it may be possible for one of them to bring a package along with them, but we would need to arrange this ahead of time so please let us know if this is something you desire to do.

Prayer Needs
- Pray that the Lord will give us an easy understanding of the Portuguese language
- Pray that our schedules will align in a way that will allow us to care for Elias without childcare for this semester. We have been unable to find childcare at this time so we are attempting to get into two different class schedules
- Pray for good health. We have each had a scratchy throat, slight cough, or itchy nose since arrival. It makes it hard to sleep with a little one who doesn’t feel 100%.
- We’re still raising funds for a vehicle in Mozambique. We are $19,726 away from our goal. We are also still raising monthly support. We’re in need of a minimum of $421/month.
- Pray for Coimbra. There isn’t a strong Protestant Church presence here and the handful of churches that are here are quite theologically weak. There is a prayer for revival in the city when truly there needs to be a formation and growth of the Christian faith here to begin with
PRAISE GOD!
- We have been connected with a group of Gospel workers here in Coimbra. They meet every fortnight and we were able to participate this past week. It was such a blessing to be with other like minded individuals.
- Our apartment is spacious with LOTS of windows
