Hello Everyone,

After spending 3 days teaching in 3 different areas and seeing the tremendous need, the Summervilles have decided to answer the call and move to Jutiapa.  The current plan is to move at the end of April or beginning of May to the house where the school meets.  By Jutiapa standards it is a nice house with 8 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.  The living room, dining room and one of the bedrooms downstairs is used by the school.  This will give us ample room to teach computer and sewing classes with some extra rooms for visitors (hint, hint).  The garage area will be the wood shop.  The rent is $100 cheaper than what we are paying now.

We had the opportunity to teach 5 classes with a total of 57 students ranging in ages from 5 to 65.  The subjects taught were math, Spanish and a fun science class on the 6 simple machines.  In Jalapa, the pastor's wife wants us to come on Sundays also, to teach a service for the Deaf.  Her 21 year old daughter was learning right along side all of the deaf students and wants to be an interpreter.

On Friday afternoon, we looked at some property for sale just a few minutes walk from Jonathan's house.  A man approached us carrying a machete and was wondering what we were doing.  Jonathan's dad Mario was quick to diffuse the situation and they talked for quite some time.  During the conversation a young girl came and stood at a distance and just watched.  The machete wielding man said that she was his daughter and that she could not listen which means she is deaf.  Mario motioned for her to come closer and then Jonathan explained that he too was deaf and she seemed to understand.  Of course we promoted the school which is only a 7 minute walk from her house.  See the attached picture of her and her father with Jeanette, Mario and Jonathan.

God is answering prayers.  Thank you for your faithfulness.  We are still in the legal process with the government to help Eulalia.

Blessings,

Greg and Jeanette
