Hello Everyone,
Us guys are doing fine here in Guatemala but missing Jeanette and Julia very much. They have been busy visiting family and friends in the states. At any given moment we can give you the exact time remaining until we see them again on June 28th.
This past week has been busy with classes in Asuncion Mita, Jalapa and here in Jutiapa. My regard for teachers has increased ten fold. Last Friday, I gave a simple Spanish test to my highest grade level class and no one was able to answer any questions except a 14 years old boy. We had thought he had some learning disabilities other than the fact that he is deaf. We were wrong. He read the test and answered the 5 questions in under 4 minutes. Go figure. Apparently he attends a hearing school but comes to our school because he does not know sign language and cannot communicate well.
I am now on a schedule of preaching every other Sunday here in Jutiapa and the other Sundays in Mita. Please pray that God would continue to show me ways to reach and teach the Deaf. It is a sad thing to look into your students eyes and know that they just don't understand. But, it is a wonderful sight to see God open their eyes of understanding as He sheds His light upon them.
Jonathan, his wife Aura and their baby girl Eunice are doing quite well. They are a happy family.
Tomorrow morning, Monday, Jonathan and I are going to the local jail to visit a deaf young man (one of our students) who got drunk and assaulted his mother. We might have to talk with the attorney and the judge and in either case I will have to interpret. This is new territory for me and I would appreciate your prayers.
Esther will be having her baby tomorrow afternoon. Please pray for a safe delivery for both mom and baby.
Thank you for all your prayers and financial support.
Blessings,
Greg and Jeanette
