Hello Everyone,
There are lots of fantastic things happening here in Guatemala. Praise the Lord! Check out the pictures below. Last Sunday afternoon was our baptism service in Monjas. Seven of our deaf students were baptized along with two of our children, Luke and Julia. Afterwards, we all gathered at our house for dinner. There were 60 people and all but about 10 were seated. It was a very happy, festive time as we celebrated after the baptism service.
On Wednesday, Roy and Myra Price (the other missionaries to the Deaf in the city) brought a group from the USA to visit the ministry here in Jutiapa. On Thursday morning, Josh and Luke learned how to test the students for hearing loss with the help of David and Cheryl McCutheon and their equipment. In the afternoon, Pastor Bob (who is deaf) with Jonathan translating, gave a gospel message to our class in Asuncion Mita and 5 of our students gave their hearts to Jesus. During the break, several came to me and asked "when can we be baptized?" Thank you all for your prayers.
We have met and are establishing good relationships with some deaf Christians in Catocha (Santa Catarina Mita). This is exciting because it opens up another area where the Deaf need to hear the gospel. We talked with Abner and Osman's mother last week and she cried as she told us that she has been praying for years for God to send someone to teach and minister to her two deaf sons.
Tomorrow morning we leave for Mexico to renew our visas. We need to stay for a couple of days and we will return on Wednesday. Please pray for safe travels, easy border crossing and hassle free visa renewals.
Thank you all for your support and prayers. They are making a difference in the lives of the Deaf here in Guatemala.
Blessings,
Greg and Jeanette
